Back in the late 70's the idea of developing a rugged, classically styled, estuary/river launch built using modern materials gave rise to the Oyster family ~ re-launched today for the discerning individual. Sporting a mahogany gunwhale her pretty bow line and high freeboard offer good sea-keeping capabilities and a generous carrying capacity for a range of boating activities. An Oyster can open up to you the pearls of coastal fishing, a peaceful potter around that on special estuary, a workboat or ferry-ride or a graceful glide along an inland waterway. The low-maintenance Oyster hulls and decks are hand laid glass reinforced plastic (GRP) available in a range of colours complemented by an individually tailored hand crafted interior using the finest woods and with a set of seating cushions plus a choice of brass, chrome or stainless steel deck fittings. The standard Oyster comes complete with a hydraulic steering system mounted on a pedestal fitted with an elegant stainless steel and mahogany-trimmed steering wheel.

For propulsion we recommend either electric or diesel power:
Electric: The Oyster 14, would be fitted with 1.3kW motor, and for the OYSTER 16 either the 1.6kW or 2.0kW motor, as part of the easily maintained almost silent E-Drive system complete, with battery pack and automatic charger, all controlled via a single joystick variable speed solid state controller. Fully charged, the above motors will give up to seven hours cruising at normal speed.

Diesel: For the Oyster 14 and 16 we fit the Yanmar 1GM10 (9 hp) marine diesel engine mounted amidships inside a sound insulated mahogany engine housing. The throttle and gearing are controlled by a dual action single lever.
