To calculate the length of the oar you require find the outboard length of the oar by measuring the beam of the boat from rowlock to rowlock, add 8.5” and divide by 2, then multiply this by 2.45, add to this the beam divided by 2, thus giving the overall length & button position.

Bossoms standard oars, paddles and boathooks are imported from France where they are manufactured using modern production methods in quality seasoned pine, the oars in particular are laminated in several layers of wood which gives them greater flexibilty, durability and strength. The ends of each blade are specially reinforced with a glued in wedge across the grain giving great strength to the end of the blade. All oars paddles and wooded boathooks are coated with heavy polyurethane varnish and the oars can be fitted with button units and possibly galvanised rowlocks if needed.
