Construction of the Bosun MK II
The hull is constructed of a through coloured polyester resin in two mouldings, which are glassed reinforcement of woven rovings and matt. It has a non-slip cockpit floor, mahogany
transom boundary, stem, keel,
gunwhales, thwarts and bilge keels. The centreplate casing is an integral moulding with the hull, the
centreplate being made of 6mm hot-dipped, galvanised mild steel with softened edges. The new rudder is made from an 18 ply
anti-fracture construction all fittings are in stainless steel including stem, rudder fittings, mainsheet horse etc.
Centreplate and jib sheet cam cleats are now of a high grade carbon fibre construction, supermax self-bailers are installed either side of the centrebox, spinnaker storage and sheets tuning blocks have all been re-thought to improve sailability. All shock cords constructed using the modern aluminium
ferrule looping covered by white plastic improving durability. A new boom fully modernised with an internal outhaul, new mast adapted with internal jib halyards and spreaders, all sails, overboom cover
completing modernisation of the craft.
All the changes have kept the craft
within the Class Association rules but have improved the performance and usability.
